with Ray Johnston and Sherwood Carthen

Ray Johnston,
President of Developing Effective Leaders, is a twenty year veteran of both
youth and adult ministry. Ray has served in churches in Duarte, CA and Marin
County, CA. He has been Chairman of the Department of Youth Ministry at North
Park College and adjunct professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in
Chicago. Since 1988 he has helped coordinate the youth Ministries Program of the
Evangelical Covenant Church where he was responsible for the support of youth
pastors, youth ministry training and the development and promotion of national
youth events. Ray's current ministry responsibilities are varied...he is
currently President of Developing Effective Leaders, and organization that
sponsors leadership training seminars. He is also founding Pastor of Bayside
Church. Ray has served with Youth Specialties Ministries, writing, leading
seminars and speaking at the National Youth Workers Convention.
Ray is author of four books:
Developing Student Leaders, Developing Spiritual Growth in Junior Highers, Help,
I'm a Sunday School Teacher: 50 Ways to Make Sunday School Come Alive, and What
If It's True. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, leadership training
events, family camps and national youth events.
Ray is a graduate of Azusa
Pacific University and Fuller Theological Seminary. Ray and his wife Carol
currently live in Granite Bay with their four children Mark, Scott, Leslie and
Christy.

Sherwood Carthen is
the senior pastor of Bayside of South Sacramento and the founder and director of
the Our Family Community Foundation, specializing in wellness, wholeness, and
faith. He is active nationally in such causes as tobacco education and substance
abuse prevention, and in the Sacramento community’s Martin Luther King Jr.
celebration. He is also chaplain for the National Basketball Association’s
Sacramento Kings. Bishop Carthen received a degree in theology and an honorary
D.Div. in the field of interdenominational service from the Mount Zion Institute
