Dorm/Office Update – 6/2/07
As we mentioned in our Selah newsletter, the county and City of Cannon Beach have allowed us to do a tax lot consolidation of all the land in the area of the new building (behind the Anchorage building). This process delayed the project by about three months, but allows us to build a bigger building, use a better floor plan design for the dorms and escape some of the difficult restrictions under the landscape rules. This will be much better for the long term development of that property as well.
We are currently waiting for final plans for the site, parking and utilities since we changed the size of the building. A professional landscape plan is also in the works and required for the permit process. The power company has laid their conduit for the power lines to be installed once we begin construction.
The key goal now is to do a submittal of all the required plans and designs for the city Design Review Board. Once that is approved, we can get a building permit and begin work on the site. We trust this can be done this summer. We have enough money on hand to begin the construction (about $210,000), but will need further gifts and faith commitments and plenty of volunteer help once construction begins.
