Ed Underwood served the historic Church of the Open Door as lead pastor for 20 years and recently transitioned to his new role of Assistant Pastor of Discipleship and Community Development. His practical messages are drawn from a deep understanding and love for people and love for God’s Word. Ed, in addition to his many years pastoring, has been a fire fighter, commissioned Army Officer, and a man that enjoys the outdoors.
Ever ready to sit with guests and enjoy a meal or cup of coffee, his warmth and enthusiasm are easily felt by those around him. The author of several books, his most recent The Trail: A Tale about Discovering God’s Will, is an enchanting, beautifully crafted allegory exploring the mysterious process of discovering God’s will.
Ed has taught Bible school students, seminarians, spoken to packed conferences, and written numerous articles and books. When Ed is not studying, leading, discipling, writing, or speaking, he loves spending time with his wife, Judy, their children and grandchildren.
Chuck Bomar served almost nine years at Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, California before planting Colossae Church in Portland, Oregon in 2008. He is author of over a dozen resources and six books with the two most recent being, Better Off Without Jesus and Losing Your Religion: Moving from Superficial Routine to Authentic Faith. He planted Colossae Church and out of this church a total of three churches have now been planted.
In addition to embedding into the city through strategic relationships with civic leaders in the school districts, he has authored over a dozen small group resources and nine books with the most recent being the highly anticipated, “Serving Local Schools.” When he is not out of town speaking at conferences or consulting with churches and denominations, he is home with his family. Chuck and his wife, Barbara, have three beautiful daughters: Karis, Hope and Sayla.
