CBCC CORONAVIRUS UPDATES

We are expecting to have our summer conferences; however, we have to wait for our governor’s guidelines for Phase II of Oregon’s reopening process. These details should be announced in the next 5-7 days. At that point we will be able to officially confirm the start of summer conferences for June 22. There will be changes to what our usual summer looks like, but we are excited and anticipating a great time for everyone with worship, teaching, hanging out with family and meeting new friends—all in the amazing beauty of the coast.

Governor Brown and her team have started releasing information on reopening Oregon and we are working through all the information. In the coming days, we expect to have more details from the state that will help us understand the impact of these guidelines on our summer conferences. When those are sent out, we will keep you updated. Until then, enjoy a brief devotional on hope from our Executive Director with his key verse being from Romans 5:5 “and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Due to the continuing governmental mandates, we are cancelling the remaining May conferences. We are also pausing construction of Phase 2 of our new Kitchen/Dining Room Complex. This is due to the loss of income we are experiencing and all that is happening with COVID-19. By first finishing the concrete work on the foundation, we will be ready for a faster restart with this construction project when things return to normal.
Thank you to all who have responded by giving and praying. Your generosity and support are greatly encouraging to the whole staff. If you have yet to join us, you can make a donation through our website, our app or by using the mail.
Thank you and until our next update, may the Lord bless and keep you.

Although things have been quiet here at CBCC, a lot has been happening. Of course, we are closed through May 5th due to governmental mandates. Our leadership team and the Board are working on the challenges we face.
We have trimmed our spending as much as possible; in addition almost all of the staff have voluntarily taken some unpaid time off in April to help our finances stretch even farther. The state is allowing construction to continue on Phase 2 of the Kitchen/Dining Complex; however, we are seriously looking at the need to pause this project.
Although we are confident of summer conferences happening, they will be affected by COVID-19. We simply aren’t sure to what degree. Stay updated through our website, FB and Instagram.
Since we do not have income from our regular retreats and conferences, your support is all the more important right now. You can donate through our website, our app or by using the mail.
As we go through this pandemic, please pray with us and for us.
Friday March 27th – Update from the Director:
This last week has been stressful for all of us with the continuing developments of COVID-19. While we are concerned for our country, our state and our friends & families, we are also facing tough times at the conference center because of the requirement to cancel retreat groups and conferences in April.
A terrific point of encouragement in this challenging time is our staff. This week nearly all of them volunteered to take some unpaid time off during April. This valiant gesture, along with the ways we are trimming expenses, greatly helps our ability to make it through this crisis.
Even with these efforts, your financial support is critical for us right now. Those in our extended CBCC family (guests, donors, etc.) who can make a donation at this time will be stepping in at a crucial time for us. We are confident this pandemic will end and look forward to the ministry work that is ahead.
Friday March 20th – Layoffs at CBCC
Today our leadership had the difficult task of announcing an initial round of layoffs. These are necessary due to the cancellation of retreat groups caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the state mandated ban on gathering size. These actions were not taken lightly and are a painful reality of the situation many organizations are currently facing. Please join us in praying for the affected employees and the staff as a whole. We appreciate your faithful support of this ministry.
Tuesday March 17th
To support the national effort to reduce the spread of Coronavirus, in adherence to Governor Kate Brown’s statewide ban of groups over 25 and in light of the president’s recommendation to limit social gatherings of ten or more people, Cannon Beach Conference Center will not be hosting guest groups for the next four weeks.
CBCC recognizes the incredible efforts our nation’s medical providers are making across the country to diagnose and treat those with COVID-19 symptoms. We are committed to doing everything within our ability to help. Our leadership team is actively reviewing every aspect of our operations to ensure that we are doing all we can to protect our staff, our community and the nation. Additionally, we are committed to praying for our nation’s leaders and policy-makers as they navigate this challenging and unprecedented crisis.
We will continue to monitor this developing situation and make updates to our procedures and services as necessary. Official communications will be made on our website, Facebook page, and handouts available at our front desk.

Conference Payment Plan and Online Bill Pay
Many of our guests have found it helpful to spread out their conference payments over time as part of their personal budget. We have listed some of the payment options available under the “Conference Payment Plan” section of our registration policies page.
Other guests have asked for the ability to make credit card payments without having to call our front desk. We have added an Online Bill Pay feature which allows you to make a secure payment online. You may also choose the option for a recurring payment.
